Candy Can Be Good For You

Tis' the season for lots of candy. Halloween is on Monday but chances are you have already stock piled lots of candy for the Trick-or-Treaters. Stores have been teasing us shoppers with loads of candy and special Halloween displays since early September. A new article published by Self magazine this week claims that are 5 reasons candy is good for you. Take a look and see what you think:

1. Chocolate Can Reduce Your Chance of Heart Attack or Stroke
A new study backs up the best excuse ever to eat a Milky Way Midnight: People who ate a little chocolate every day were 40 percent less likely to have a heart attack or stroke, according to the study in theEuropean Heart Journal. Pick a piece of dark chocolate the size of a Hershey's Kiss.

2. People Who Eat Candy Have Lower BMIs and Smaller Waists
Fans of fruity candy, rejoice! It's not all about chocolate anymore. People who eat confections of any kind have a lower body-mass index and a smaller waist than their candy-skipping pals, researchers at Louisiana State University find. Balancing healthy eating with the occasional treat is key.

3. Gum Keeps You Focused
Chewing gum improves alertness, a study from Coventry University reveals. Pop a piece when you need an afternoon pick-me-up.

4. Fiber and Antioxidants
The corn in that sticky popcorn ball has fiber and antioxidants. Nuke 1/2 cup honey for 10 seconds; add 12 ounces semisweet chocolate chips. Pour over 6 cups popcorn mixed with 1 cup salted peanuts. Stir; form into balls; chill on wax paper until firm.

5. In Moderation, It Can Help You Lose Weight
A sweet truth: Enjoying more treats can help you slim. People who ate four low-calorie desserts a week lost 9 pounds more than those who had one weekly splurge, research from the University School of Medicine in Athens shows. Those who felt deprived pigged out, but frequent sweets eaters were satisfied with smaller portions.

Remember to eat small portions and keep track of your and your children's candy intake. Too much candy can result in weight gain, stomach aches and fatigue.

Happy Halloween!

HOT TOPIC: How to keep your employees happy during the holidays

I know it's only mid October; but in the promotional products business we have to be on the ball and plan for future events and holidays now! A new study presented by the Advertising Specialty Institute shows that companies that give holiday gifts to their employees have a more motivated and productive workforce. The survey released this week indicated that 75 percent of those who received a gift from their employee admitted it helped improve their morale. Sixty percent of those surveyed admitted that holidays gifts make them like their company more and 33 percent of the survey takers said the gift motivated their productivity.

There are so many kinds of gifts that are perfect for the holiday season. While you may give customer's more basic promotional products to gain their affection creative and more thoughtful gifts are best for employees. Splurge on gourmet chocolates, candy and snacks so employees can snack in the office. Or maybe give your caffeine dependent crew a gift card to Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks to get them in a good mood on the way to the office. Discounts on company products or services are also a great idea to help remind employees why it is they love the company and what it does for customers. Or maybe throw a holiday party with a fun goodie tote bag full of fun products.

Custom imprint, embroider or engrave items to add that special touch to holiday gifts. Items with employees names or initials will help them claim their territory in the office and add that special touch to even the most simple items like a mug or a nice professional pen or portfolio.

4AllPromos has plenty of ideas for fun, special and meaningful holiday gifts for your employees. Remember to order holidays items sooner rather than later to avoid the holiday rush. Not sure what kind of special items we stock or what kind of item is right for your employees or just need help brainstorming or pricing out? Call one of our product specialists toll-free at 1-866-732-3386 to discuss options, imprinting and pricing.

Happy holidays!

Can I Have Some Cheese Please?!

October is a busy month. It's Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Oktoberfest and Halloween are celebrated and there are lot's of fairs and festivals going on all month long. Did you know October is also American Cheese Month?

Cheese is a huge staple of American cuisine. American cheese in particular is a favorite on sandwiches such as grilled cheese, steak and cheese and grinders, hoagies and subs from coast to coast.

4AllPromos has some fun things for cheese lovers. Along with our large inventory of kitchen related items cheese enthusiasts can get their favorite cheesy accessory such as a grader or slicer custom imprinted. Cheeseheads from Wisconsin or cheese shops around the country can get cheese themed calendars, cheese shaped stress balls, cheese  hat, cheese gift set or even some cheese flavored popcorn. Find all kinds of cheesey promotional products at 4AllPromos.com

Looking for ways to celebrate National American Cheese Month. Here are 10 suggestions from the Mother Nature Network:

  1. Visit a local cheese maker and watch how cheese is made.
  2. Find out if you’re local grocery store carries any local cheeses. If they do, buy one instead of your normal block of cheddar from the dairy aisle.
  3. Follow the cheese trail. Like a wine trail, a cheese trail takes you from one cheese producer to the next — all located close to each other.
  4. Make your own cheese. Mozzarella cheese is considered one of the easiest cheeses for beginners to make.
  5. Order cheese for dessert. Finer restaurants will often have a cheese option for dessert along with sweets. Any cheese tray can be ordered for dessert, so even if a cheese tray is listed as an appetizer, order it for dessert.
  6. Attend or host a wine and cheese tasting.
  7. Attend or host a beer and cheese tasting.
  8. If you’ve never tried a cheese that isn’t from cow’s milk, branch out and try goat’s milk or sheep’s milk cheese.
  9. Follow a cheese blog. Culinary Arts College has a list of what they consider the50 Best Cheese Blogs on the Web, including my favorite, Madame Fromage.
  10. Build a better grilled cheese sandwich. October’s cooler weather is perfect for easy grilled cheese and tomato soup dinners. Try one of these 10 grilled cheese sandwiches that switch out American cheese and white bread for new flavor combinations.

Color can make all the difference

Promotional products come in pretty much any color you can imagine. However, just becomes it comes in neon pink doesn't mean you have to order it in neon pink. Next time you are placing an order for t-shirts, pens, hats, cowbells, tote bags or whatever else  you use to promote your business think twice about the color scheme of the products. The infographic above identifies the meaning behind all  your basic colors. Make sure the products match your brand and compliment your message.

Here's a recap of what the certain colors convey:
Yellow-Optimistic, youthful and attention grabbing
Red-Energy, increased heart rate, urgency, or clearance
Blue-Trust and security (good colors for banks and businesses)
Green- Wealth, relaxation (the easiest color for the eyes to process)
Orange- Aggressive, buy/sell, call to action.
Pink- Romantic and feminine.
Black- Powerful and sleek (used to market luxury products)
