Pantone names 2015 Color of the Year
It's that time of year again when the color experts at Pantone select the 'it' color of the upcoming year. Drum roll please...the color of 2015 is Marsala.
Marsala is described by Pantone as a earthy shade of red.
“Much like the fortified wine that gives marsala its name, this tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal, while its grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of Pantone. “This hearty, yet stylish tone is universally appealing and translates easily to fashion, beauty, industrial design, home furnishings and interiors.”
Pantone has been selecting the infamous color of the year since 2000. Recent colors include: radiant orchid (2014), emerald (2013), tangerine tango (2012), honeysuckle (2011) and turquoise (2010). Colors are representative of pop and world culture and trends around the world.
